The film slips into flashback mode and goes straight to Rosie's eighteenth birthday (of which she has very little memory). Alex and Rosie, both extremely high, were an inch away from kissing when she passes out. Next morning when he comes over to discuss what happened last night, he finds her in a sour mood because of her drunken experience.

The trip ends on a terrible note for Rosie who returns home to her daughter. Rosie bumps into Greg at work, and he wants her to take him back. She argues alot but the fact that he and Katie begin bonding so well becomes the cue for her to accept him back into her life. Alex remains detached from her since their fight in US.
